Don't Defund Toronto Police
This is a campaign by Canadian Crime Watch

Toronto City Council is currently debating a budget that would see the police DEFUNDED by $12.6 million.

Toronto, along with other Canadian cities, is already facing a crime wave. Defunding the police would only make the problem worse.

That’s why Toronto residents need to come together and tell Olivia Chow and City Council that we OPPOSE defunding the police.

If you agree with us, enter your email address and postal code and an email will be sent to Mayor Olivia Chow and your local councilor explaining why they should vote AGAINST defunding the police.

Don't Defund Toronto Police
Dear Mayor Chow and Council,

I am writing to you today to express my opposition to the proposal to cut Toronto’s police budget by over $12 million, a move which would endanger the safety of Toronto’s residents.

Residents of Toronto are regularly reading stories on the news about random assaults. We all know someone who’s had a car stolen in recent years. Many of us have already had enough trouble reaching 9-1-1 in times of emergency as it is.

Additionally, Toronto has seen a spike in hate-motivated crimes including vandalism and threats targeting religious minorities and institutions in recent months. Diverse communities across our city are already disproportionately impacted by crime. They rely on the police for their safety and cutting the police budget would only make them more vulnerable.

I urge you to reconsider the proposed budget cut and explore alternative solutions that do not compromise the safety of Toronto's residents. Ensuring that the police have the resources needed to address and prevent crime is necessary to preserve the safety of Toronto residents.

Sincerely,
